From The President
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the Rock.” Matthew 7:24
I learned a long time ago when telling a story that answering the questions of What, When, and Where are generally less critical (and often less interesting) than answering Who, Why & How…Sure, the first three descriptors absolutely matter in creating context, such as in capturing background. However, they fail to reveal Who the character really is and his/her true motivations, which is where the all-important Why and How enter…
As individuals, groups, and organizations seek ideas and solutions for the opportunities they face, identifying the right fit for their needs is crucial. Knowing the experience and the overall effectiveness of a solution is akin to understanding context (e.g. “What, When, and Where”), and these elements are vital. And, yet, there are invariably many ways “up the mountain” of solving a challenge, but understanding who you’re partnering with on the climb, and how and why they want to climb with you is even more important.
Sierra Vista Ministries is more than a Christian consulting company passionate about developing Christ-centered content and tailored ministry solutions to meet the missional needs of churches and Christian schools. That’s what we endeavor to do every day with partners in ministries across the country. But Why and How?
With over 38 years of high-level experience in collegiate and Christian secondary school education as a coach, teacher, counselor, marketing and development officer, executive, author and columnist on Christian matters, I started Sierra Vista Ministries to give back. It’s really that simple. And it’s with a driving passion to do the Lord’s work the Lord’s way – with Jesus Christ as the ROCK upon which all work is carried out – that the Who and Why of SVM are answered. But what about the How?
No two circumstances are ever exactly the same, and one-size solutions do not remotely fit all. So, to accomplish the How, I would relish the chance to visit with you, virtually or in person, to hear your needs to tailor a plan that works for you, your family, school, or church. However long it takes to share the need, SVM is happy to listen and follow up with a conversation to outline a solution, and how SVM can help achieve it.
In the end, the heart of SVM is rooted in the desire to bring glory to God by enthusiastically and expertly partnering with you on your climb, however long or high, to realize a mountain-top experience. Sierra Vista Ministries is, after all, based in God’s Country along the Sierra-Nevada Mountains. We give Him thanks every day for them, and we’d most certainly give thanks for the chance to help you reach the summit of what’s in front of you.
In Christ,
Brian Underwood,
President
